TOOLS, TINKERINGS & CODE

Do you use my code?

Welcome to a new look Fremnet · Mar 15, 00:06 by Shannon Wynter

G’day folks.

It would seem I’ve finally gotten around to fixing up my site like I promised myself. I don’t have the time to actually continue writing my own engine so I’ve backed it up for safe keeping and switched to Textpattern.

What did it take to get here?

  • 1 hour of working out a layout
  • 1 hour of implementing it
  • 3 hours of bashing browsers to make them all display it
  • 2 hours of working out which tools to use in Linux for the graphics
    1. The gimp (All the sexiness)
    2. Open Office 2 Draw (Smooth vector engine, with nice features)
  • 1 hour of drawing pictures
  • 1 hour of cutting them up
  • 2 hours of fixing the layout to make use of the LRTB images
  • 2 hours of working on my sexy new logo
  • 1 hour of moving all my new template information into TP.

Why is this good for you?

  • Well first of all, it’s a much more organized site
  • You now have the ability to comment

And best of all.

The new site is just so damned sexy

It’s going to take me a little while to port the articles over from my old site, so please – be patient with me.

And I fully expect broken bits, if you spot one feel free to find my on IRC and point it out

Edit:
There, I’ve taken the new site out of testing, and it’s now running live – it’s not done yet, but it’s mostly there. I’ve tried to keep some of the more popular articles on their original urls, but not all of them are.

I’ll bring the search online in a bit…
