Always fighting the Australian government · Jun 5, 18:57 by Shannon Wynter

So, after 2 years of fighting the government (Specifically the incompetence of the Department of Education, Employment and Workplace Relations) I finally get some of the money owed to me by my previous employer.

Now I’m about to embark on another fight, how hard do you think it is to bring a girlfriend of three years to Australia for a 3 month visit on a tourist visa – fully sponsoring her, providing her accommodation, food, and money to spend here?

Well, after paying two $100 application fees, and providing cover letters, statutory declarations, and even an affidavit sealed with a law firm’s stamp promising she’ll return home – all we’ve got is two identical rejection letters.

I’m left wondering, does my $100 application fee become a bonus to whoever rejects an application?

I’m quote prepared to concede that my girlfriend’s situation in her country is not the best for supporting her case, I’m aware she has nothing but her family to return home to (which the Department of Immigration and Citizenship don’t seem to think is enough reason), but we’ve gone to a great deal of effort to explain our situation and make guarantee’s and promises (which have penalties in BOTH countries for breaking)

It’s my understanding that a reviewing agent has a degree of control over an application, to use his or her own judgment, then why are we getting carbon copied responses to these applications, I’m yet to confirm it, but I suspect it’s the same person denying us both times, power gone to ones head perhaps?

I mean, it’s not like she’s asking to immigrate here, she’s asking to visit, and the reason? To spend some time together, getting to know each other, before we move forward to the next step in the relationship. To take time planning and preparing – It’d be MUCH easier if I just flew there, married her and brought her back – that’s not the right way to do this though.

I’m sure if I threw enough money at the right person I wouldn’t have a problem bringing her over…

I’m getting a little tired of the government in this country and it’s various power hungry and money grubbing departments.

First it was the complete and total incompetence of the Department of Education, Employment and Workplace Relations, every single day I face the incompetence of the Department of Transport (and the government owned company Queensland Rail), now I face the incompetence and possible corruption of the Department of Immigration and Citizenship – Don’t get me started on the corruption of the Department of Child Services, or the incompetence of Minister for Broadband, Communications and the Digital Economy
